Books of 2016

Post by Nibs »

Bears are excited to see the charts and graphs that Gulliver will hopefully share!!

But in the meantime, here's Lee's haul from 2016 and books.

BOOKS READ IN ORDER OF FAVORITES:
* Sandman Overture - Neil!
* A Quiet American - Graham Greene
* Shaman Healer Sage - Alberto Villoldo
* Cut Me Loose - Leah Vincent
* Siddhartha - Herman Hesse
* Urban Shaman - Serge Kahili King
* A Shaman's Guide to Deep Beauty- Francis Rico
* Shamanic Journeying: A Beginners Guide - Sandra Ingerman
* Fooling Houdini - Alex Stone

BOOKS PARTIALLY READ (and %):
* Persian Fire: The First World Empire and the Battle for the West (70%)
* The Baron in the Trees - Italo Calvino (10%)
* World War Z (audio book) (50%)
* The Power of Reiki (70%)

This is the first year in a while that Lee hasn't attempted to read Oil! But she did carry it around in her backpack for a bit. :)

I might've missed some, but this is what I've got for the most part!

Shame on... me

Hi Nibs

Sorry I haven't posted yet, I know everyone is clamoring for my year-end retrospective. I've just been a little sleepy lately but hopefully can work on it soon.

Thanks for posting Lee's books. I also read Cut Me Loose as well.

I didn't realize Lee listened to some of the World War Z audiobook. Very interesting. As you know I am quite an audiobook aficionado.

Well, I will talk to you later Nibs.

Gulliver's books of 2016

Post by Gulliver »

Hi Nibs.

Well it took me longer than expected to get my summary for 2016. Sorry about the wait.

I am a bit surprised that I read almost half as many books in 2016 (34 books) compared to 2015 (60 books). I think Lin is to blame - you see I read the Hamilton and the Washington books which were quite long let me tell you. In fact Washington was 927 pages! You can see I plateaued in the summer but my pace was picking up again by the end of the year.

Here are my top 5 reads of 2016:

5) Nimona - Nimona is able to transform into different animals which is pretty cool

4) The Bazaar of Bad Dreams - I'd much rather read about pesadillas then have them

3) So You've Been Publicly Shamed - it really makes you think before you tweet

2) The Yiddish Policeman's Union - the best Jewish noir detective story set in Alaska I read all year

1) We Found a Hat - the conclusion to an epic hat-based trilogy
