Schloptober Trip

Post by Gulliver »

Hi.

Me and Peaches are going to visit Lee and company in early Schloptober. We can talk about the trip plans in his thread. So far the only thing planned is:

Schloptober 4th - Gulliver and Lee spend an evening with Neil Gaiman
Schloptober 4th (tentative) - Peaches spends an evening with Sneeches

Also Schlop has promised it will be sunny this time but if it is not then he owes me two cookies.

Hi Gulliver!!

Thanks for starting this thread!!

We can brainstorm all sorts of ideas here. I'll work on FOOD places, because I know in the last year and a half there have been a TON of places we ate that were yummy.

Cafe Gratitude - I am cool WITH NIBS!!
In N Out! (I know we already ate there)
Wichcraft - good sandwiches and soups
Asqew!!
Frijtz- yummy fries with different dipping sauces!

Hm... I'll keep thinking.

Maybe after the Schlop Wars movie we can go to the cool Japan Town store where they have cool notebooks and pens. Maybe I could get a cool notebook.

I heard that Lee knows about a really good burrito place to get veggie burritos. Lee said she would pick them up while I wait in the car... sounds like a good deal!

On Food

Post by Nibs »

Hey guys!!

I asked all the bears here to work on putting together some lists of what to do when Dave and Gulliver and Peaches come to visit!!

I decided to tackle food places. Here are some of my ideas (besides the ones listed in my previous post):

El Metate or Pancho Villa (the two best burrito places in the Mission. One is a block from Schlop's new place)

Rudy's Can't Fail Cafe (this is a cool diner right across from PIXAR - so we can see the grounds of PIXAR) and it has toys everywhere and barbies on the walls and it has really good food and especially good chocolate cake.
http://www.rudyscantfailcafe.com/

Cheeseboard Pizza- this place is in Berkeley and it's cool. They make different pizzas each day and you have to eat them, no other choices. Also for breakfast they have more pastries of every shape and size than you can imagine!! Including "bear claws." Hoo hoo. http://cheeseboardcollective.coop/Pizza ... aPage.html

Beard Papa- Sometimes Schlop likes to get cream puffs. The puff went poof... hoo hoo. http://www.muginohousa.com/

Citizen Cupcake- oh no, it looks like it went out of business! Oh nos!

Sunflower- really good Vietnamese place in the Mission- we like the lemon grass tofu, it's yummy.

But also Frjtz (they have fries with different dipping sauces) and Cafe Gratitude and Asqew!!!

On Hiking

Post by lee »

Hey guys!

I'm excited that you're coming!!

Nibs asked me to tackle hiking. So here are some cool places me and Nibs have hiked that we might want to go to again:

Wildcat Canyon- beautiful green rolling hills behind Berkeley that overlook the bay and there are cows. http://picasaweb.google.com/nibskebab/WildcatCanyon

Muir Woods- you've been there. But we could try new trails and see cool stuff, or do the same trail again. (Dipsea)

Armstrong Redwoods- this place is cool and I did a neat hike here where we saw eagles. You hike up through the Redwoods and onto the rim of these valleys. Also, there's a good food place that Nibs forgot that's nearby which has this amazing warm porridge dish that is AWESOME. http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=450

Alamere Falls- this is my favorite hike in the entire world. You hike along some cliffs near the ocean, then into the woods and past a cool lake, then out onto this place where a river goes over a cliff and lands in the ocean in a spectacular waterfall. It's amazing. It's not too far away either. Nibs would love to do this hike. http://www.waterfallswest.com/waterfall.php?id=247

Pt Bonita - this is a cool hike out to the lighthouse off the coast of the Golden Gate Bridge. Not very long or hard, but neat to explore the lighthouse and the cliffs.
http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=22011

Land's End - this is a neat area at the end of the peninsula of San Francisco and gives you cool views of the Golden Gate Bridge from the backside. Depending on if you like any of Schlop's ideas, we could combine this hike with some cool museums. http://sanfrancisco.about.com/od/enviro ... dtrail.htm

Cool parks- well we're already going to see Mission Delores Park, but we can also hang out in Golden Gate Park (which is a lot like Forest Park) or Chelsea Field (where they are in WTHIM 06) or Alamo Park (where they are in WTHIM 08).

Mt Tamalpais- I've never done this hike but me and Nibs always want to. It's the tallest hill near San Francisco and hiking it gives you amazing views of the ocean and the bay and everything else. http://www.mttam.net

On FUN

Post by Sneeches »

Hi PEACHES!!

Nibs asked me to think up some cool FUN PLACES to go while you're here.

Here are my IDEAS. I hope you LIKE them!!

ALAMEDA ISLAND
- I hear there's this PLACE with all this weird ART and STATUES and stuff and you can walk around and climb on it and it sounds FUN and not too SCARY. What do you think, PEACHES? I've never BEEN THERE.

CEMENT SLIDES - I heard that in the MISSION there are these GIANT SLIDES that are made of CEMENT and you can go down them. Would that be too SCARY?

TIRE SWING- Lee told me about this cool TIRE SWING in the woods on the ISLAND that is FUN.

VALENCIA- We could go to the PIRATE STORE and next to that is PAXTON GATE which is NEAT (but a little SCARY) and then next to that is BORDERLANDS BOOKS which sells only SCI FI and FANTASY BOOKS and it's where we met NAOMI and ELDON.

GIANT ROBOT - This is a cool comic store that also sells UGLYDOLLS.

Here are some helpful LINKS:

MISS YOU PEACHES!!!

On Cool Stuff To Do

Post by Nibs »

Thanks for posting you guys!!

Here are Schlop's ideas of cool stuff to do:

*Schlop Awakening - (already on the books)

*CA Academy of Schlop - this just opened and we could go check out the penguins!! http://www.calacademy.org/

*Palace of the Legion of Schlop - I've never been here but I hear it's cool and we could go check it out! http://www.famsf.org/legion/

*Castle Schlopping- This is where Lee and I first learned about Castle Schlopping and maybe we could go and learn about other new cool comics and graphic novels!! http://www.cartoonart.org/ It's easy to get to.

*Schlop Linear Accelerator- As long as we're in Palo Alto, we could go tour the Schlop Linear Accelerator and see how it works. Lee and I always wanted to do this. http://www.slac.stanford.edu/

*Scale Model of the Schlop- Lee thinks this place is rad and I'd love to check it out. http://www.spn.usace.army.mil/bmvc/

Thanks for those tips, Schlop!

On Rad Stuff

Post by PB »

Apparently Star Wars was not enough of a recommendation. Nibs wants a few more from me.

Here you go, don't do them all in one day or you might die of joy...

Help Lee Move. I hear Lee could use some boxes taken up some stairs. Good times.

Drive to Santa Cruz. Pick up local hitchhiker. Drop him or her off. Inhale deeply.

Beach. Let's go to the beach and bury Peaches and Sneeches in the sand. It'll be a photo they always remember.

I hear there's this good restaurant in Sausalito where the waiters don't know much about personal boundaries.

In case you didn't know, I hear the SF Zoo has a killer Tiger exhibit.

Enjoy.
