miniNibFlix

Post by mini-nibs »

Hey all. I've just set us up with a NibFlix account and now we are rearing (?) to go. You guys should post here what movies you want to see, and I will add it to our queue. I signed up for the 2 movies at a time, with unlimited movies per month - it costs $12 a month. I think it should work out to ~10 movies a month if we play our cards right.

So far Shnoodles has suggested the Buffy DVDs and DJ wants to see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Pancake. Petri wants to see the Squid and the Whale. I hear Nibs is working on a list of suggestions, so that should be cool.

Update - uh oh, if we want to watch the Buffies, each season is 6 discs, so 6*6=36 rentals, which will take ~3 months. Hmm... at this rate we will never get to Duddles' pick of Flipper (he likes to be flipped). What should we do Nibs? Try to space the Buffys out with movies or try to do them all at once?

Edit: I'll add the movies/shows here as we watch them!

Eternal nibshine of the spotless pancakes
Buffy season 2
Buffy season 3
Buffy season 4
Angel season 1
War of the Schlops (L)
Lonesome Schlops (L)
Lemony Schlopits (L)
Schlop of War (L)

NIBFLIX!

Post by Nibs »

Oh I keep meaning to put together a complete list of movies to see... ok let me get started. We developed a rating system... SSNL.... for each of the 4 people here that get to vote (Schlop, Sneeches, Nibs and Lee). We'll put the rating next to each movie of who wants you to watch it. That way if you agree with the taste of one of us, you can trust our future recommendations.

The Aviator - SSL
Spirited Away - NL
Triplets of Bellville - SNL (Schlop not Sneeches)
Batman Begins - S (Sneeches not Schlop)
Shop Girl - L
Glory Road - SNL (Sneeches not Schlop)
Madagascar - SN (Schlop not Sneeches)
50 First Dates - N
The Butterfly Effect - L
Donnie Darko - SSNL
Finding Neverland - NL
Garden State - SSNL
Hero - S (Sneeches not Schlop)
Lemony Snicket!!! - SSNLPB
Mean Girls - N
Mirrormask - SSNL
The Passion of the Christ - NL
Shrek 2 - SSNL
Spanglish- L (it's good, not a comedy!)
Troy- SL (Schlop not Sneeches)

That's a start for now....

Movies that need seeing

Post by Nibs »

Here's a list of movies we haven't seen but we hear great things about so you should see them and tell us about them:

Proof
Chronicles of Riddick
Collateral
The Girl Next Door (blame nibs)
I, Robot
Napoleon Dynamite
The Notebook ("Like McAdams loves DAWSON!")
Sideways
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (supposed to be good!)

Musical movies

Post by lee »

Oh, I also think you should watch some musicals with Gulliver!

Specifically RENT and Phantom of the Opera (I still haven't seen the new one).

I think there's a Les Mis movie too ... but it has Uma Thurman... blech.

Also, can you get obscure old musicals on Nibsflix? I think you should get Pirates of Penzance... that's a good one.

Lee thinks we saw Garden State together with you. Hmm... I hope I didn't get that wrong on any of the others. Oh dear... well I apologize in advance if that's the case...

Hey-

You should also watch FOG OF WAR.

Aunt Nancy was talking about it and it sounds REALLY interesting.

Yo miniNibs... are you able to keep track of all this? Let me know if we should start a spreadsheet or something for ya.

Bed-spreadsheet

Post by mini-nibs »

Hey Lee,

I cooked up a little spreadsheet like you suggested. Here are the movies you are trying to get us to watch and all their rotten tomato rankings. Looks like you were trying to sneak some duds past us, eh? Well, nice try!

unBELIEVABLE

Post by lee »

Holy Crap, Mininibs.

That's some hard core research you did. I'm impressed. Well at least most of the bad ones were ones I hadn't seen...guess you shouldn't see them either.

Don't believe everything you read on tomatoes... Slevin is a GREAT movie!! But you can probably skip Butterfly Effect and 50 First Dates.

You should now correlate that according to which bear recommended what and see which bear is the best recommender. If you're bored..

Hey Lee,

I've got the numbers crunched!

The lowest tomato picker was ... sorry to say it, but you Lee. Hope you aren't mad. Then came Nibs followed by Schlop. That means that the one who has the best taste in movies is none other than ... SNEECHES!

Wow! Good job Sneeches.

Here is the final data (let me know if I made any mistakes!)

Sneeches - 78 +- 14.9
Schlop - 74.4 +- 17.1
Nibs - 72.8 +- 18.9
Lee - 70.2 +- 19.9

And Firefly is making a move to the front!

Post by mini-nibs »

Gang, there have been rumors coming from Schlop's camp that Firefly is an exceptionally good show. I have made the executive decision to begin moving it up on the official mini-queue. Don't worry Shnoods and Duds, I won't move it ahead of any Buffies - but I think I will move it ahead of Veronica Mars and Freaks and Geeks (sorry Gulliver I know you are looking forward to it). But don't panic guys, we will still get to everything on the queue - unless we die first!
