New Foods

Food is a very important topic on these forums. We now have a new category devoted entirely to it (including any and all muffins, pancakes, and pastries).

New Foods

Post by Nibs »

Post any new foods or recipes here!

I heard the St Louis bears got a new ingredient in their chili.

It's called "elbows."

Nibs - that's a good topic.

That's funny about the elbows too. Funny!

Hey - I know a new food we can add to our chilli when you come to visit - guess what it is?

That's right - YOU!

Nibs we are going to eat you.

More like a crapani!

Post by Shnoodles »

Hey you gourmondos,

Well, me and Muffins just went to Panera to check out the free crispani. Here's how it went down:

Muffins and I enter the restaurant, coupon in paw.

Faced with the choice of several crispanis, I start to panic. Muffins saves the day by picking the most expensive one. Most expensive = best food, ipso fatso.

We also order a chicken shnoodle soup as a fallback plan. And it comes with an apple. Muffins holds off on the muffin tops since the crispani might be too filling.

Promising! Apparently the crispani is a special food that takes 10 minutes to prepare. We get a special sign that let's other people know we ordered a crispani! We commence to slurp the soup.

Around the 8-minute mark, a server brings out a special raised silver platter, with dish and silverware. The crispani will be arriving shortly, he informs us. This is much like the rose petals announcing the entrance of a pharaoh.

10 minutes and where's the crispani? Oh, there it is. It is delicately placed in front of us. Food fit for gods?

In appearance the crispani leaves much to be desired. Picture a wet tortilla with some random bits of what might be chicken, and some splotches of what might be cottage cheese. Did we order the wrong one? It doesn't look like the picture!

Muffins bravely charges ahead. He says foods that look bad might still taste good. I am dubious. Brownies look good, brownies taste good. Crispani's look like they were used to wipe up the floor of the kitchen.

Bad news from Muffins. Confirmed by me. Crispanis taste like soggy dough drizzled in snot. Two bites later, we stash the crapani in the trash and leave with our apple. For all we know, the empty silver platter is still sitting on our table.

Holy crapani, Shnoodles!!

That was an epic post. Thanks for letting us all vicariously enjoy your crapani adventures. Too bad they were so crapani.

Lee told Schlop who told me that you guys might try again. Is this true?

Pasta anyone?

Post by Nibs »

Hey Shnoods,

Any progress on getting a better crispani?

Meanwhile, Lee and I have been trying some new foodstuffs.

Our latest creation is to buy pasta shaped like mini-shells and cook it. Then add sauce. Then we bought a block of cheddar cheese and we grate some and sprinkle it on top and it melts into the hot sauce and pasta. We really like it.

It'd be cooler if we cooked some veggies for the sauce too. Oh well, that will have to come later.

San Fran Food

Oh hey guys!

I meant to tell you that we had our first BURRITO IN THE MISSION!!!!

It was actually pretty good. It was a veggie burrito deep in the heart of the Mission and it was amazing...not all slimy and greasy like so many other Mission burritos.

Very exciting.

Donuts!

Hoo hoo hoo.

Just the other day I was thinking how I could really go for a donut. Have you spotted any donuts recently Nibs? What kind of donuts do they have in San Francisco?

Do you guys prefer Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme?

Fruit salad

Post by Snuffles »

This week we made fruit salad!

We bought three cans of fruit from the store - pineapple chunks, mixed fruit, and sliced peaches. We then mixed all three cans into a tupperware bowl. It's pretty good!

Oh wow. I've always wanted a cinammon roll. I look very cinammony myself I think... I'm fortunate that I don't have icing on top of me and that Schlop doesn't like SWEETS.

Was it good?

Lee wants to know how squishy it was and if you heated it up?

Cinammon nibs

Post by Gulliver »

Hi nibs,

It was a good cinammon roll - it was pretty soft and moist, but I didn't heat it up.

If you ever come to visit we can go to the store and I will buy you one. They are 50 cents at the bakery.

Mini-pizza!

Post by mini-nibs »

Is anyone else dying to find out more about this mini-pizza that Lee supposedly gobbled down the other day? I really want to hear what kind of pizza it was and just exactly how mini a mini-pizza is. If Muffins was a normal pizza would I be a mini-pizza? Or maybe Nibs? Or Snuffles???
