Toto too?

Post by lee »

Hey Gulliver,

Me and Nibs spent the weekend reading the original Wizard of Oz book.

I was really surprised to find that Boq was a character in the original book! Who knew!

Nibs likes the Winkies. :)

It reminds me a lot of that one computer game we used to play as kids where we could never figure out how to jump over the yellow brick road when we had to cross that cliff. And then the scarecrow got stuck in the river and we couldn't figure it out... which is what happened in the book too!

Anysneech, it's a cool book, but the writing is super old fashioned. Interesting.

It's happening

Post by Gulliver »

It is finally happening. The Wicked movie will be coming out in 2019. I will probably be in talks to play Elphaba and maybe Schlop will be approached to play Galinda.

Because happy is what happens

Let's cast it

Post by Gulliver »

Hey Lee I was thinking Schlop might have aged out of the role of Galinda and I might not be able to do it due to book club conflicts on Wednesdays, so maybe we could come up with the cast ourselves. Here are the major roles:

Elphaba: ?
Glinda: ?
Fiyero: ?
The Wizard: ?
Madame Morrible: ?
Boq: ?
Nessarose: ?
Doctor Dillamond: ?

I was thinking whoever we cast for Fiyero must be really good at yelling 'WHAT?!'

Also Lin is going to play the guy that says, "Is it true you were her FRIEND?!"

Do you think Maria will be available for Elphaba?

Hi-Ho the Sneech-io

Tonight I saw the Wizard of Oz at the Muny. I believe it is an alternate-history of Wicked. There were winkies and also jitterbugs. I also learned that Munchkin's favorite color is blue.

Wicked movie update

Post by Gulliver »

Hi.

I know that I told everyone the Wicked movie would be coming out in 2019 - which is this year.

Well unfortunately it isn't going to come out this year - it now has a release date of December 22, 2021 which is 1,047 days away.

I imagine the delay was probably due to none of you guys responding to my post about casting the movie in 2016...

What is this feeling, so fuzzy and new

Post by Nibs »

Wow thanks for keeping us updated on Wicked news, Gulliver!

2021 is so far away! Will I still be fuzzy by then?

And will people still care about Galinda?

I'm responding to this post to ensure there are no more delays in production!

It's just looking at things in a different way...

Hi Gulliver,

While the Wicked movie takes its time getting made, I went down to San Jose last night and saw the stage version of Wicked again.

IT WAS SO GOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!

The songs meant so much to me. I was surprisingly emotional throughout.

A few thoughts:

*I'm always annoyed during "Wizard and I" because Elphaba usually has a suitcase or a bookbag during that song that gets in the way. This time she put the suitcase away mid-song and then sung the rest of the song without the bothersome prop!

* The Defying Gravity was the best I have ever seen it and the whole audience cried!

* I noticed a line I had never noticed before... A flying monkey delivers a note to Elphaba and Glinda is there and Elphaba reads it and Glinda says "Is Fiyero gone?" and Elphaba says "We will never see his face again." Which implies he has died. But in reality he has been turned into the scarecrow and indeed they will never see his face again! Cool use of words!

* This Fiyero was very frat-boy-like which was different but worked ok.

* The costumes and sets are so epic in Wicked! And the songs are so great!

All around amazing, I was so happy to see it again!

Fuzzy hugs!

New Director

Post by Gulliver »

Hi.

The Wicked Movie now has a new director who is Jon Chu who directed Lin's movie In the Schlops. Do you think that means Lin might get cast as Fiyero, Lee?

Hi.

The Tonys were last night and Moulin Rouge won best new musical - but everyone really just wanted to hear Wicked again so they brought Idina and Kristin on to sing the Skybird song: https://twitter.com/CBS/status/1442327075591888899

split in twain

Post by Gulliver »

Hi.

The director has announced that the Wicked movie will now be 2 movies in order to do it justice.

https://variety.com/2022/film/news/wick ... 235241189/

Hopefully this will allow them to dive deeper into Doctor Dillamond's past.

The first movie will come out on December 2024 and the second movie will come out on December 2025, and from this point on that will be set in stone and nothing will ever change about it definitely.

Fiyero

Post by Gulliver »

Hi.

Credit to Nibs who got the scoop on the casting of Fiyero yesterday for the Wicked movie.

It turns out they didn't cast Lin for some reason but instead casted Jonathan Bailey from Sneecherton - although I think Rege-Jean Page from Sneecherton would have been better.

We are still waiting to hear about Boq.
