Apparently in the 80s in Germany there was also a dance that went along with it where people in nightclubs would pretend to be a polar bear standing on its hind legs and wave their paws around like a bear would.

What a time to be alive that must have been!

Ash turns 5 today!

Or maybe that is yesterday for him since he is on the other side of the world in Nibs Zealand.

Anyway, Ash is now pretty into Schlop Wars stuff and Neil got him some Schlop Wars comics and a mini R2D2 and a Jabba the Schlop. Soon Ash will bring balance to the Force like the legend foretold.

Ash also gets to borrow a pinball machine for a whole week! Hopefully it is Schlop Wars themed!

Ash is 6 today!



Ash has spent the past year and a half unexpectedly hanging out with Markian in Middle Earth! Some of it was just with his Mom, but now his Dad is back around too. He currently lives on an island north of Auckland and gets to see rainbows a lot and splash in tide pools.

Ash really likes Clue, zombies, scavenger hunts and books!

There's no telling how long the plague will continue here in the States, so Ash may be a kiwi for a while. We are just glad we get so many regular updates about him and that he's having so much fun!

Ash turns seven today which is very exciting!

Ash is now back in Bearsville and presumably will be having a big birthday bash with all the bears!

Us non-Bearsville bears are excited to see what subjects Ash gets into this year and what new creative endeavors he will pursue.

Keeping with birthday tradition, here's a picture of Ash as he started second grade last week!



Ash spent most of the past year in Aoterea with a brief adventure to Isle of Skye to eat two hot dogs, but now he is back in Bearsville where he can make sure all the bears are properly accounted for and keep peace within his realm, just like Dream of the Endless when he finally got home too.

Ash spent this year back in the States, reading Calvin and Hobbes and having adventures. (He did get to visit his old Aoteoroa friends for a bit though.)

His parents officially divorced, but he seems to still spend his time in Bearsville, enjoying his Mom's new Graveside Variety little venue for musicians. He also got to run around NYC with his Dad for a while too. Lee got to spend 3 days with Amanda in Denver and hear her Neil breakup song (Whakanewha) and hopes to see her again for New Years in Berkeley.
