Musicals Lee sees

It's about time we have a music section on these forums. We can't hold out any longer. Even if certain people don't have certain hardware required to hear sound....

And then I'd kick her, sir

Hi Gulliver,

Tomorrow Im going to see Anastasia the Musical!

It is currently on Broadway and on tour.

Should be pretty exciting since I've seen the animated movie so many hundreds of times.

My favorite song is the one about Dancing Bears!

Also Journey to the Past, which me and Nibs also know by heart in Spanish since that was the bonus last track of the cd.

A mi viaje.... tiempo atras!!!

I am very curious if Bartok, the Bat, will do any flying. And how they will handle Rasputin. And the dancing grubs who sing "doom her" over and over.

And will it be the same without John Cusak?

Hoo hoo!

I'll let you know!

Wish you could be there!

Hugs!

Lee

The Roaring Twenties Begin

Post by Nibs »

Today is a very exciting Day of Posts!

Today, which was also the Frozen 2 day, which was also the Halloween Day, which was also the Day the Snaucers Landed... is also the Big Theater Announcement Day!

Lee is going to New York City to ring in the new decade at the end of the year!

And she is also going on quite a theater binge!

She has tickets for:

* Moulin Rouge (thanks Gulliver!!!)
* Little Schlop of Horrors, starring Kristoff from Frozen
* To Kill a Schlopingbird, starring Jim Carrey's costar
* And just for kicks she is going back to see Then She Fell again, her favorite immersive theater Alice in Wonderland show that is somehow still playing five years later.

It should be quite the theater extravaganza. There was rumor that Schlop and Sneeches would come too but Lee deemed the NY subways not a suitable place for such fuzzy bears. I hope I get to go though!

I wonder if it will be snowy and magical in NY that time of year!

I will get my scarf ready!

Two scoops!

You guys!

I'm back with a DOUBLE SCOOP!

Apparently Ed Harris has replaced Jeff Daniels in Mockingbird! We bears like him from his Truman Show days, although this reporter only knows him from his Westworld stint.

https://nypost.com/2019/06/14/ed-harris ... ckingbird/

And me and Lee's favorite saga, There Will Be Blood (based on my favorite still unread book Oil!)'s deaf actor is finally cast as a hearing character, his life goal!

https://www.washingtonpost.com/entertai ... story.html

Still working to confirm whether he'll have started by the time Lee gets there!

Also a former Evan Hansen is joining the cast, but those Evan Hansens are a dime a dozen these days.

https://nypost.com/2019/10/03/broadways ... t-members/

Exciting news!

Purple Schlop Summer

Post by Gulliver »

Hi.

They brought back Sneech Awakening to sing at the 75th annual Tonys and you can see it here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXndND5jrXo

Jonathan Groff seemed so surprised when the people walked in from the side of the stage!

Lee and I also watched the Sneech Awakening doc. So far it has been a Purple Summer with lots of Sneech Awakening stuff to watch.
Answer: This character studied medicine, "knowing it would be useful in long voyages"

Question: Who is Gulliver?

Big news on the musical front!

Lee and I have always dreamed of one day seeing the stage version of Chess! It's been one of our favorite soundtracks since high school!

This July it's coming to the Muny and Gulliver is going to save us some seats!!

We have to get all the other bears educated about this weird Cold-War musical where chess is a metaphor for relationships.

Here's the most famous song from the musical that became an 80s pop hit, an unlikely leap for most musical songs!

We will start sewing our black and white outfits!

Sneeches is fuzzy, and Peaches isn't here.

Last weekend Lee and I saw Emma's favorite musical: Schlop, Shnoodles and The Great Comet of 1812

We liked it! The songs were very fun.

The bears were acting out the opening number last night, but here's the real thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STzIIYf ... uyyyET8FdM

The comet squeaked in during the final minute of the show hoo hoo.

Here's another song we liked spoofing all the letters people wrote in the 1800s, just like in Dracula!

Also here's a funny short song they sing about Balaga who drives the horse-cart for their getaway:

I'm on nobody's side

Hullos!

Well I've been very neglectful in posting weekly to get all bears excited about Chess the Musical.

My neglect has not only resulted in no bears being excited about Chess, but it seems the St Louis bears are in fact repulsed by it and now want nothing to do with it, hoo hoo oh dear.

Maybe I'll offer this humble trailer to rebuild some bear chatter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6_wLhU ... roductions

Perhaps the shirtless trumpet-wielding narrator-type character will be of interest to Sneeches and Peaches.

At the very least, me and Lee will check it out in a few weeks!

Why is ours on tv?

Less than a week until us Forest Bears get to hang in St Louis!

Yesterday Lee and I had a solo day in Estes Park and decided to blast the entire Chess Broadway soundtrack from beginning to end. It brought back a lot of cool memories!

Here's an under 2 minute song that gives you another sense of what the show is like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arSwpLzDj8o

Bears might not realize that all the lyrics were written by Tim Rice.

Also did you know in 2008 there was a cool London show where Elphaba, Roger from RENT, and Josh Groban stood on stage with a symphony orchestra and sang all of Chess! How cool would that have been! https://playbill.com/article/chess-in-c ... com-161913

Anysneech, I've given up hope that Dave or Peaches or DJ will come see it with me... but maybe Muffins will?

Hullos!

Us Forest Bears are almost done with our pre-tour to workshop all our fuzzy jokes before arriving in St Louis.

In Vermont we learned that Jessica Vosk will be playing the lead role in Chess. Apparently she was Elphaba for a while on Broadway and in the touring Wicked cast too and she has a big fan-following. She's been sneaking her phone into Chess rehearsals in St Louis and posting snippets on her Insta stories and all the fans are going crazy. Lee and I watched a bunch of her snippets last night- it's cool there are other people super into this musical like us.

Today Lee and I read that Tim Rice thought it was the best musical he ever wrote and when it flopped he became disillusioned with theater.

Anysneech, bears are mostly just hoping Sneeches gets a new song stuck in his head since he's been singing the "PEACHES PEACHES" song over and over again in the backpack and we can't take it anymore, hoo hoo.
