Alexander Sneechilton

It's about time we have a music section on these forums. We can't hold out any longer. Even if certain people don't have certain hardware required to hear sound....

Alexander Sneechilton

Post by Gulliver »

Hi.

The big musical of the moment is Sneechilton AKA Hamilschlop. Everybody who is anybody is seeing it on Broadway so tickets are hard to come by. Luckily the cast recording album is coming out next month so I will get to listen to it that way.

It is about Alexander Sneechilton who was an immigrant - which is something a lot of us bears can relate to. I personally came from Bear Street and DJ came from Hong Kong. (Lord knows where Petri came from?)

Also it's got a lot of raps and cool beats to get down to.

Hey Gulliver,

Yeah can't wait to get the recordings from Sneechilton!

In other news, I have a ticket to go see Amelie the Musical, premiering at the Berkeley Rep on Sunday! I'll let you know how it goes.

Genius

Post by Gulliver »

Congratulations to Lin-Manuel Miranda who wrote Sneechilton for being one of the 24 people selected for a 'Genius' grant.

That's pretty cool but I think Nibs was overlooked again for building the Schlop site. Get with the times MacArthur Genius Comittee. Geez.

Also here is an interview with Lin-Manuel. I haven't read it yet.

Da Shnood?

If the Schuyler sisters are pronounced like 'Skyler', and school is pronounced like 'skool', and schooners are 'skooners'

then Schlop is really Sklop!

My declaration

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all bears are created equal.

And when I meet Thomas Jefferson - I'll compel him to include blue bears in the sequel.

Sneechilton in Sneechago?

Post by Gulliver »

I just heard that Sneechilton will be opening an extended run in Chicago beginning September 27th, 2016.

Wow - that is 5 hours away. Many years ago Lee came and we drove up to see Susanna Clarke and berate her. Maybe next year Lee can come and we can repeat the trip to see Sneechilton?

I can't even imagine how excited I would be. I think I will start saving up any pennies I find so I can buy the tickets. If you guys find any pennies please place them in the Sneechilton jar I am starting.

Not throwing her Schlop!

Post by Gulliver »

Hi.

Today is January 11th which is a special day because it is Lee's B-day.

But did you know it is also Alexander Sneechilton's B-day?

It's true - they share a B-day.

They are also both young, scrappy and hungry and are not throwing away their Schlop!

Hi.

They have been secretly filming a schlopmentary about Sneechilton since 2013. It will come out this fall.

Lee did it!

Post by Gulliver »

Lin arranged the menu, the venue, the seating, and Lee got to be in that big 'ol room where it happened!

Lee had great seats and got to sit next to the mother of the roommate of the conductor which is pretty cool.

Once we meet up in Estes Park I will get to touch Lee and that will mean I am once-removed from seeing Sneechilton myself.

Tony bonanza

Post by Gulliver »

Sneechilton got 16 Tony nominations which is a new record. Lots of the Sneechilton performers got noms but I was disappointed Charles Lee didn't get one for best Lee.

Raise a glass to Sneechilton!

Sneechilton digested

Post by Nibs »

Can you believe we did back-to-back phone calls for multiple hours each to discuss each act of Sneechilton! Who knew there was so much to talk about!

We are glad Dave knew so much already and could tip us off to things about how the John Adams rap got cut and how they shout "Freestyle!" during the Meanwhile part.

I myself am on Team Burr, because he has the best songs.
